The Sweetest Summer Baby Shower for the San Nicolas

Great atmosphere, people and food is what characterized the sweet gathering of the San Nicolas couple who will soon be parents. I was delighted and honored to be able to work with Jan, Malory's mother in-law. The food was fun to prepare and the execution of each one of the items was excellent. My best memory of this time was seeing Jan and Malory's happy countenance as they saw the final look of the food and decorations prepared for their special event. Because after all Papaya Seeds loves making every special event unforgettable.

"COMPLETE Beauty"

Zenbi Salon has open its doors to a beautiful retreat location in Rancho Bernardo. The RB Coutyard with its spanish architecture and its peaceful fountains is the "new home" of Zenbi Salon. As the graphic designer and marketing consultant for Zenbi Salon I had the great pleasure and honor of working with Corinne Concion & Anthony Lam, owners of Zembi Salon.

I had the most fun working on the menu for the grand opening since I was given full freedom on the creation of the menu for this special grand opening event. The idea was to have a menu that allowed the guest to have small bites, finger food, tapas or most commonly known as hors d'oeuvres. Fruit drinks and delicious cupcakes had to be part of the menu for sure. Paper lanterns with candles in them were part of the center pieces and fresh colorful flowers were arrange in small vases wrapped with pearl gold paper displaying Papaya Seeds emblem on the side. And so it happened! Once the courtyard was decorated and ready to go all was left to do was to plate food and wait for the special guest to come and enjoy the special menu for that evening.

As I always say I truly enjoy preparing for every single event that I create a menu for. But I have to say that creating the food for Zenbi's grand was extra special. Creating an unforgetable menu with delicious food and decoration was my way of thanking Zenbi for the past years of their continual support.

Olivia dreamed every little girl's dream of being a princess in a far-away land. To make this event come true, I was hired as a consultant to make the perfect formula: invitations, thank you cards, favors, decorations, and ideas for the menu. I had so much fun getting all the different items ready, but the best part was seeing Olivia's cute smile as she entered the courtyard of the Marriott hotel in San Diego where her princess birthday dream were realized indeed.

Bubble generators, balloons, paper lanterns and pink-frosted chocolate cupcakes surrounded the scene. Olivia and her friends had fun playing with the entertainers and drawing with a colorful batch of pastel chalk placed on the tables as favors for all the kids. It was sparkling day to remember for both kids and parents.

Asian/Italian/Mexican Flavor Fusion

I definitely loved developing the menu for Karen Chen baby shower. I have to say that thanks to the full range of exotic produces, garnishes, spices, ingredients and even flowers I was able to delivered such a tasty menu. So far this year in cooking for this event I feel that I have mastered a little more the art of bringing three different kinds of ethnic flavors into a six hors d' oeuvre menu. This was absolutely a great challenge, fun and rewarding.

It's tea time everyone!

Tea time at a special spot in San Diego was one of the most amazingly fun and relaxing catering events. My favorite part throughout the entire time from prepping food to decorating and setting tables was the "tea tasting bar" experience. For the first time we set up a tea bar with the finest teas from one of our local tea shops in San Diego http://www.infusionsoftea.com

Since the occasion of our catering was in honor of a baby shower; our tea choices had to include two types of teas. An herbal and a caffeinated tea. One with a subtle light floral flavor and another with a earthy, nutty chocolate flavor. The guest absolutely loved the aroma and flavors of the teas served. We complemented the tea with a variety of tasty tea cakes, lavender scones, mini quiches, mango sausage polenta and of course the best chocolate hazelnut mini cupcakes.
